The one time we ran Lowe's we ran the same gear that we run at Road Atlanta (and VIR and Roebling and Sebring long course). Depending on how stout your LS-1 is (Base or Upgraded), figure on about a 155 mph top end at each of those tracks.
This has been covered in other threads, but once you know the desired top end you can use high school algebra to figure the final drive:
. MPH = (RPM * tire diameter) / (final drive * 336), so
. Final drive = (RPM * tire diameter) / (MPH * 335)
In Bosco's example, plugging in 6800 for the max RPM, 26.7" diameter for Hoosiers and a desired 155 top end, you'd want about a 3.48 rear gear. If running Goodyears, substitute 27.5 for the tire diameter.
